First, watch the video about education reform in Ohio.

Then, sign the petition to protect our schools.

Last month, the Ohio Supreme Court issued a ruling that created an $851 million shortfall in our budget. If Ohio’s leaders do nothing, that money will come from our schools.

Governor Ted Strickland believes cutting funding from our schools is the worst possible decision we could make. Instead, Governor Strickland has proposed freezing state income tax rates at 2008 levels, a plan which will fund our schools.

In a letter to supporters, Ted wrote:

As I talk to employers and entrepreneurs throughout the state, I keep hearing the same thing: new jobs will go where the workforce is most educated, creative and innovative. Employers are looking to hire workers with 21st-century skills, and they’re counting on our educational system to get them there.

Over the next few weeks, I look forward to working with leaders of both parties to balance our budget. We’ll have to make some tough choices. But improving our schools remains the single most effective thing we can do to attract new jobs to Ohio.

I’m committed to protecting our education from cuts, and I need you to stand with me.

Stand with Governor Strickland. Fill out the form below to sign the petition and make your voice heard.

I’ll take a stand to protect our schools from budget cuts. I want Ohio to have the educational system it needs to improve our economy and create new jobs.
