Strickland joined State Senator Cecil Thomas at celebration of African American families
CINCINNATI –– Today, Ted Strickland joined State Senator Cecil Thomas at the 28th annual Midwest Black Family Reunion in Cincinnati.
Strickland toured the festival grounds, meeting voters and discussing issues important to Ohio’s working families during the 2016 campaign.
“I was happy to join State Senator Cecil Thomas at this important event celebrating Ohio’s African American families and community,” said Ted Strickland. “As governor, I was proud to champion the values of diversity, equality and inclusion -- creating the Minority Business Advisory Council, investing in urban economic development, and appointing more African American judges to the bench – but everyone knows we still have more work to do to make these ideas a true reality in Ohio and across our country. Whether the challenge is making sure working people can get a good job with a fair wage, fighting back against Republican attacks on our voting rights, or working to make all Americans safer through commonsense gun safety proposals, I look forward to continuing to work with and fight for Ohio’s African American communities in the Senate.”
