Strickland Campaign Statement on Ted’s Debate Victory

COLUMBUS, OH –– Following Ted Strickland’s victory in tonight’s U.S. Senate debate in Cleveland, Strickland for Senate Campaign Manager Rebecca Pearcey issued the following statement:

“Ted has now won every debate, and each time Ohioans have seen the central contrast in this race: Ted’s fighting for working people because that’s where he comes from and that’s who he cares about, while Senator Portman is nothing but a lapdog for his rich and powerful friends. Tonight, Ted laid out why Senator Portman’s brand of spineless, self-interested politics and partisanship has hurt Ohio’s working families and is out of step with our values – from Portman’s votes against commonsense gun safety measures, to his cowardly decision to continue backing Trump even after Trump bragged about sexual assault and mocked President Obama’s American citizenship. While Senator Portman had no defense for his record of reckless partisanship, Ted proved once again that he is the only candidate who can be trusted to stand up for working families in the Senate.”
