Strickland Campaign Asks Rob Portman: Should Trump Drop Out?

Yesterday, Strickland Campaign Released New Television Advertisement Highlighting Portman’s Lack of Leadership

COLUMBUS, OH – Today, the Ted Strickland for Senate campaign has a simple question for Rob Portman: Should Donald Trump drop out of the presidential race?

“Trump is a bigot, he has insulted a Gold Star family and prisoners of war, and now we know he is the kind of man who thinks he can touch women without their permission because he’s a celebrity. It’s pathetic that Senator Portman backed him for so long -- even supporting him for more than 24 hours after it was reported that Trump had bragged about sexual assault,” said David Bergstein, Strickland campaign spokesman. “Republicans across the country are calling on Trump to leave the race – and now Ohioans deserve to learn if Senator Portman agrees with them. If Senator Portman continues to hide from his own party’s nominee and refuses to answer these basic questions, it will be just more proof that Senator Portman’s spineless, self-interested brand of politics represents exactly what Ohioans hate about Washington.”

Yesterday, the Strickland campaign released a new television advertisement: “Coward,” which highlights Portman’s continued support for Trump after he bragged about sexual assault. The campaign also distributed a flyer outlining 20 times Rob Portman refused to dump Trump.
