COLUMBUS, OH — Today the Ted Strickland For Senate campaign announced that former Governor Strickland has earned the endorsement of the Franklin County Democratic Party.
The endorsement was issued at a meeting of the Franklin County Democrats on Thursday night.
“I’m honored to receive the support of the Franklin County Democrats, a group that shares my strong commitment to Ohio’s middle class families and to those families that are struggling to get into the middle class,” said former Governor Ted Strickland. “Whether the issue is fair wages for workers, making college more affordable for students, or protecting retirement security for seniors, working families need a voice who will stand up for them — not prioritize the interests of Washington insiders and the wealthy special interests like Senator Portman has. I’m running to fight for Ohio’s working people because that’s where I come from and those are the folks I’ll always puts first.”
“Democrats in Franklin County are backing Ted Strickland because he understands the struggles of working people in Ohio’s urban areas, and he never stops fighting for us,” said Franklin County Democratic Party Chair William A. Anthony, Jr. “Former Governor Strickland is the only candidate who can win this senate seat and stop Senator Portman from pushing the agenda of D.C. insiders like him at the expense of Ohio’s middle class families and we are proud to endorse Ted’s campaign.”
Strickland has also earned endorsements from: President Bill Clinton; U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown; Ohio U.S. Representatives Tim Ryan, Marcia Fudge and Joyce Beatty; The United Auto Workers; The AFL-CIO; The Ohio State Council of Machinists; The Ohio College Democrats; The Ohio Education Association; District 6 Painters and Allied Trades; the Communications Workers of America District 4; MoveOn.org; Senator Elizabeth Warren; The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the Ohio Democratic Party.
