FACT CHECK: Koch Brothers Try to Cover for Portman’s Record of Support for Job-Killing Trade Policies

COLUMBUS, OH –– The Koch brothers are out with a new, false advertisement attacking Ted Strickland — and it’s no surprise they’re propping up Sen. Portman: the Koch brothers and Portman both support unfair, job-killing trade policies that have outsourced hundreds of thousands of Ohio jobs to places like China.

From David Bergstein, Strickland Campaign Spokesman: “Rob Portman is the ultimate Washington insider and the best senator that China’s ever had — so it’s no surprise that billionaires and shadowy special interests want Portman in Congress to continue pushing their agenda at the expense of Ohio’s working families. PolitiFact called the claims in this ad ‘false:’ newspapers, economists and fact checkers all agree that Ted Strickland put Ohio on the road to economic recovery  —under Ted Ohio had the 5th fastest growing economy in the country, he cut taxes, and left Ohio with rising wages and dropping unemployment.  There’s no amount of false charges that can distract Ohioans from Senator Portman's unabashed support for job killing trade deals that have rocked our economy and outsourced hundreds of thousands of Ohio jobs to places like China.”
