Today, the Ted Strickland for Senate campaign announced that Ted has earned the endorsement of the Communications Workers of America’s (CWA) State Council of Ohio. The State Council consists of CWA local unions from Ohio that represent over 20,000 members.
“We are proud to endorse Ted Strickland — he understands the struggles facing Ohioans who work for a living and is a proven, passionate champion for Ohio’s middle class families,” said CWA State Council of Ohio President Diane Bailey. “While Senator Portman is pushing the agenda of the Washington power and wealthy special interests he serves, in the U.S. Senate Ted will stand up for Ohioans who work for a living at every turn.”
“I am honored to have earned the endorsement of our communications workers who play such an important role in powering Ohio’s economy,” said Ted Strickland. “I am running to tackle the challenges that matter to the middle class and all those who are working so hard to get into the middle class — issues like fair pay, affordable education, and making sure workers can retire with security and dignity. In the U.S. Senate, I will be a strong voice for Ohio’s working people because that’s where I’m from, that’s who I care about and that’s who I’ll always put first.”
The Communications Workers of America represents 700,000 workers in private and public sector employment in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. CWA members work in telecommunications and information technology, the airline industry, news media, broadcast and cable television, education, health care and public service, law enforcement, manufacturing and other fields.
