Revitalizing land and creating jobs
This afternoon, Governor Strickland and Department of Development Director Lisa Patt-McDaniel announced a new round of investments in revitalizing Ohio and creating jobs. The $28 million in funding comes through grants from the Clean Ohio Revitalization Fund, a program designed to restore land that was formerly used for commercial or industrial purposes and may now be unsuitable for general use.
By partnering with local governments and the private sector, this round of funding is expected to retain or create more than 1,400 jobs in 16 cities and counties throughout the state.
From Governor Strickland's statement:
“Too many of our workers and businesses are reeling from this global economic recession, which makes our partnerships with local communities and our efforts to improve Ohio’s business climate even more important,” Strickland said. “Clean Ohio investments encourage business development and job creation by revitalizing our communities and previously-used industrial properties.”
