Ohio’s advanced energy economy

on 10/27/09 by Or

This week, 13 Appalachian states are coming together in Athens, Ohio to talk about the region’s immense potential for developing renewable energy. It’s part of the Appalachian Regional Commission’s New Energy. New Jobs. New Opportunities for Appalachia.conference, hosted by Governor Ted Strickland.

Last year, Governor Strickland signed a bill to prove Ohio’s commitment to alternative energy. The bill requires 25% of Ohio’s electricity production to come from advanced and renewable sources by 2025, giving us one of the most aggressive standards in the nation. And Ted’s commitment to advanced energy has already started to pay off: early investment that has paid off: Ohio has consistently ranked near the top of the list when it comes to green jobs and advanced manufacturing.

Ted will be hosting and attending a series of alternative energy events this week to demonstrate Ohio’s commitment to green energy. For updates throughout the week, follow Ted on Twitter or become a fan of Ted on Facebook.
